The Archive contributes to the exhibition of the Museo del Tessuto in Prato
The exhibition Turandot e l’Oriente fantastico di Puccini, Chini e Caramba opened to public of the Museo del Tessuto in Prato from 22nd May to 21st November 2021, retraces the history and the origins of the costumes feared in the Turandot during the world premiere of the opera by Puccini at the Teatro alla Scala the 25th April 1926. Effect also of the discovery of a core of costumes and jewels of scene coming from the private wardrobe of the pratese soprano Iva Pacetti, the exhibition further explores the lucky partnership between Giacomo Puccini and the artist friend Galileo Chini, until the involvement of Luigi Sapelli (aka Caramba), the costume designer of the Teatro alla Scala. The Archivio Storico Ricordi contributes with the loaning of set and costume design and a poster from its precious iconographic collection, which includes original drawings by Umberto Brunelleschi, sketches for scenes by Galileo Chini and the iconic poster for the world premiere of the opera realized by Leopoldo Metlicovitz, with the cover for the luxury edition of the score printed edition.
